We are looking for a full stack developer who can develop software systems that power smart farms. This includes building work management systems, data collection and visualization, control systems, and farm automation. Your work will consist of developing and maintaining farm backend systems with Node JS, Express JS, MongoDB while maintaining frontend with Vue JS and accompanying plugins.

You will be partnering with an experienced startup-minded team and working directly with the tech team of Sunway XFarms. The best of both worlds – you will be part of a successful conglomerate entity, while enjoying the perks and adrenalin of being in a startup environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop farm management software that digitalises inventory systems and farm operations
• Develop systems to collect, process, and visualize data related to plant health and growing environment
• Optimize crop cycles and workflow schedules to improve yields and operation efficiencies
• Build artificial intelligence to improve farm yield, including input/output, workflow, external analysis models, and milestone deliverables
• Create data analytics infrastructure model to improve farm ROI by analysing real-time customer insights and feeding relevant information back to the farm
• Develop human-machine interfaces for farm-wide sensors and actuators
• Develop and maintain IoT systems using Node-Red, Grafana, InfluxDB
• Manage microservices using container systems such as Docker and version control via Git (GitHub)
• Scale systems to handle more farms, sensors, crops, operators with integrations from 3rd party POS and e-commerce solutions.
• Proactively identify opportunities to enhance developer productivity.

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Experience in developing and scaling production web applications using NodeJS, ExpressJS, MongoDB, VueJS, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• You proactively mitigate issues through test-driven development, continuous deployment, and thoughtful monitoring and alerting.
• You are familiar with DevOps which include Docker, AWS and Linux server management
• You’ve used implementations of IoT tools such as Node-Red, InfluxDB, Grafana and are familiar with protocols like MQTT.
• You are able to establish a clear scope of assigned KPIs, execute on them and proactively communicate work updates.
• You’re confident in taking ownership of projects from start to finish and enjoy the process of turning ideas into reality.

We are looking for an urban farm manager who will be part of the Sunway XFarms’ core team to be in charge of overseeing the operation management of smart farms using hydroponics systems. If innovations in food and agritech excite you then don’t wait and apply now! 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage smart farms’ operations, from germination to harvesting, packing and delivery. 
• Train, guide and manage a team of agronomists and apprentice with daily farm operations tasks 
• Maintain all hydroponics farm systems and adhere to food safety requirements, SOPs, good safety standards and meet all requirements of MyGap Certification. 
• Liaise with the sales team, farm vendors and suppliers for execution of projects and purchases 
• Conduct R&D and consistently source for new plant varieties that are suitable to grow in all farms including the development of planting recipes, schedules, budgets, and timelines. 
• Analyse farm data and propose effective solutions for cost efficiencies, plant health management and pest management. 
• Constantly stay-up-to-date about new vertical farming technologies and innovations 

We are looking for candidates who have: 

• Minimum 3 years of experience with commercial hydroponics systems  
• A background in agriculture, food manufacturing or related field is desired 
• Experience in managing teams across multiple farms 
• Strategic thinker with leadership, analytical and critical thinking skills. 
• Familiarity in operations of smart farm management software and IoT

We are looking for a Business Development Intern who will be working on identifying new market and acquiring new F&B sales leads for Sunway XFarms. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect quantitative and qualitative data from the market (both online and on-the-ground surveys/interview)
• Assist in the development of business strategies by using data and statistical analysis to identify potential customers
• Support strategic and daily business which includes expanding the business in current markets as well as developing new markets
• Responsible for leading growth and developing strategic plan in areas such as business development, sales, partnerships & customer retention
• Take charge for lead generation and acquisition of F&Bs in Klang Valley
• Manage relationships with F&Bs by providing professional, excellent customer service with restaurant chefs and management
• Assist the team in terms of running the day-to-day operations, including reporting, performance tracking etc
• Stay abreast of new openings, and attend important industry events & network with the F&B industry.
• Any ad-hoc activities as and when assigned

Duration: 3-6 months (an opportunity to be converted to full-time based on performance).

We are looking for a Smart Farm Intern / Technician who will be working on researching and building IoT sensors and providing on-site servicing and maintenance of sensors.

You will be partnering with an experienced startup minded team and reporting to the IT Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and build up sensors to be compatible with RS485 interface.
• Aid in building tools to optimize operations in farm.
• Research, build and improve IoT sensors and camera to be deployed at farms across Sunway XFarms.
• Provide on-site farm servicing & maintenance of sensors and equipment.
• Aid in building and replicating IoT systems to be deployed across various farms.
• Optimizing sensor deployment and doing research and development to improve IoT devices and systems.
• Any ad-hoc activities as and when assigned.

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Knowledge in IoT devices or have experience working with Arduino.
• Have knowledge in CAD software.
• Interested in R&D and conducting experiments.
• Have good analytical and hands on skills.
• Fresh graduates / students that require industrial placement / degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or any related engineering field.
• Have experience working with basic electronics tools or hydroponic farming systems
• Possess a car and willing to travel around.

Duration: 3-6 months, starting from May/June/July 2022.
